Trex Company is one of the largest consumers of both polyethylene and wood materials in North America. With two manufacturing sites currently operating, and a third site under construction, Trex Company consumes in excess of 125,000 tons of each of these materials on an annual basis. We are always increasing our hardwood raw material supplier list and eager to explorer other cellulose materials. The types and consistency of wood materials we purchase range from wood chips to shavings to sawdust and more. Wood sawdust is typically purchased in truckload quantities, although we will consider less-than-truckload quantities depending on the quality and location of supply. Trex Company offers a viable and sustained outlet for these materials, insuring the continued use of our landfills for generations to come. The specifications are stringent and are outlined by the definition of contaminations and moisture. A contaminant is outlined as foreign material, debris, metal, rocks or stones, green material, adhesive and treatments, and material of a greater size than our specifications. Moisture content must be less than 12% of the material.
